Biography:

Wesley Williams successfully escaped from Warrick in Cecil County, Maryland sometime between the years of 1856 and 1857.  Before he fled, Williams belonged to Jack Jones, who Williams called his "so-called owner."  Williams left behind his mother, who was free, and his enslaved sister  in Warrick.  Williams reached Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where he was aided by individuals connected with the Underground Railroad.
