Biography:
At the age of twenty-seven, John Pinket successfully escaped from
Dorchester County, Maryland with fellow slave Ansal
Cannon. Pinket was
owned by a widow named Mary Brown, who owned eight other slaves.
Pinket reached Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and was aided there by
individuals connected with the Underground Railroad.
