Solomon Light (b. 1834 - d. ?)

Biography:

Solomon Light fled Cambridge in Dorchester County, Maryland, in 1857 with fellow slave Silas Long.  Light was twenty-three years old when he escaped his owner, Willis Branick, afraid he was going to be sold.  His brother had been sold the year before.  Though little information has been recovered about his life after his escape, Light is known to have reached Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and was aided there by individuals connected to the Underground Railroad.
