Biography:
Twenty-eight year old Perry Johnson fled Cecil County, Maryland in November of 1853. Before his successful escape, Perry was the property of Charles Johnson of Elkton, Maryland. Though little is known about his life after escape, Johnson definitely reached Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and was aided there by individuals connected with the Underground Railroad.
