Biography:
Mark Posey was one of nine slaves of Hampton Plantation committed to the Baltimore Jail on May 8, 1863. The others along with him were Louisa Posey and child, who are assumed to be Mark's wife and child, Mary Humphreys, John Humphreys, George Humphreys, Jim Gully, Tilghman David and Jim Pratt. All of these slaves were listed in the Baltimore City Jail Accomodation Docket as being slaces of John Ridgely Esq. of Hampton, and subject to his order. John paid a total of $18.90 to get Mark Posey and his eight other slaves released by order on May 15, 1863.
