MSA SC 5496-1317
Fled from slavery, Prince George's County, Maryland, 1851
Biography:
On February 16, 1851 three women enslaved by George W. Graham fled his Upper Marlboro plantation. Two of the women, Susan, twenty-three, and Jenny, fifteen, were sisters. Their father and aunt lived in Washington, D.C. The two ran with a friend, Mary Anne, who also had relatives in Washington, D.C., and even some in New York City. While their destination is unclear, they were probably heading to a family member for aid.
