POLICE SEEK DRIVER IN HIT-AND-RUN CRASH

(His child is in serious condition) (Salisbury, MD) – Maryland State Police crash investigators are continuing their probe into a serious two-vehicle hit-and-run crash which occurred on Jersey Road in Wicomico County earlier today that left an infant in serious condition and other occupants with non-life threatening injuries.                      The suspect is identified as Brian Braxton, 42, of the 400-block of Naylor Road, Salisbury, Maryland.  He is described as an African-American male, 5-11, 220, with brown eyes and balding.     .                      The injured are identified as Ursula Holbrook, 26, of the 600-block of W. Main Street, Salisbury; her daughter, Brianna Braxton, 6 months; Angela M. Legates, 26, of the 27000-block of Island Drive, Salisbury; and Dean J. Twilley, 20, of the 8500-block of Jersey Road, Salisbury.                      Holbrook and her daughter were taken by ambulance to Peninsula Regional Medical Center (PRMC) by a passing motorist.  Holbrook’s injuries are considered non-life threatening, however, Brianna Braxton’s condition is considered serious at this time.  Investigators later learned that Holbrook was holding her daughter when the crash occurred.  A child safety seat was observed within the vehicle.  Twilley was also taken to PRMC with injuries considered non-life threatening.                     Shortly after 3:30 p.m., State Police at the Salisbury Barrack were notified of a serious motor vehicle crash in the 8500-block of Jersey Road.  Troopers arrived a short time later and learned the following.  Brian Braxton was operating a gray Dodge passenger vehicle north on Jersey Road, reportedly in an aggressive manner.  He attempted to pass another vehicle traveling in the same direction, but subsequently collided with a blue Pontiac passenger vehicle (driven by Legates), being backed from a private driveway.                       Following the collision, Braxton and Holbrook (who was carrying her child), exited the vehicle and started to walk along Jersey Road.  Braxton subsequently fled the area on foot.    Investigators believe Braxton was injured in the crash and may seek medical attention.                          Troopers and other personnel initiated an immediate search of the area utilizing personnel from the MSP Aviation Division (Trooper 6) and K-9’s from the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office and Delmar P.D.   The Dodge is not registered to Braxton.  The Delaware registration displayed was found to be switched from another vehicle.  The vehicle was subsequently stored for post inspection purposes and will be processed for any evidence by personnel from the Forensic Sciences Division.  The crash investigation is being conducted by members of the State Police Crash Team.  Investigators have consulted with representatives of the Wicomico County State’s Attorney’s Office regarding the crash.  No charges have been filed at this time.     CITIZENS WITH ANY INFORMATION AS TO THE WHEREABOUTS OF BRAXTON ARE URGED TO CALL THE SALISBURY BARRACK AT 410-749-3101.
