Tour the Universal Workplace and the Interactive Technology Suite at the Workforce and Technology Center (formerly MRC) and hear about the great variety of technologies available to help people with all kinds of disabilities. WHAT IS A CCTV ANYWAY?

If you have low vision and eyeglasses and magnifying glasses don't make things large enough, you might need to use video to make things even larger. That's what a CCTV is. Come see three area vendors demonstrate the different makes and models they sell and explain the differences between them. Instructor: Susan Levi, CRC, ATP, Technology Demonstration Specialist. If you register and then find that you are unable to attend the training, please call to let us know. Registration for all trainings must be received at least one week in advance. All trainings listed on this schedule will be held at the Workforce and Technology Center. Notices of trainings at other sites will be mailed separately. As always, groups of at least 5 can arrange for training or demonstrations of technologies at the Maryland Rehabilitation Center and groups of at least 10 can arrange for trainings or demonstrations of technologies at any site in the State of Maryland. Brain Injury Training
A training on Brain Injury will be sponsored by the ESRO on January 29, 2002, at Chesapeake College room EDC27 from 10am-4pm.
This training will cover:
Causes, symptoms & treatments of traumatic brain injury
Behavioral issues & traumatic brain injury.
Deficit awareness & dealing with deficits after traumatic brain injury.

Description:
Individuals, especially children, who are not independently mobile, need mobility. However, many parents and professionals believe that using powered mobility requires certain motor or cognitive skills which must be demonstrated prior to using a power wheelchair. This course will examine these biases, demonstrate existing equipment and show how anyone can utilize power for independent mobility. Teaching / treatment strategies for learning competence in powered mobility will be emphasized. Subjects:

The purpose of this training is to provide basic information needed to participate in the IEP development and implementation of programs for children with disabilities. As a result of this workshop participants will:
1) Understand the importance of parents and teachers sharing information about the student
2) Review information about the IEP and reauthorization of IDEA
3) Identify effective goals and objectives in the IEP
4) To create effective communication.

Neuro H2O
A new program, Neuro H2O is available to individuals with significant chronic neurological impairments. A therapist will complete an initial Aquatic therapy evaluation and design an individualized water work out. The program is located at Ocean Physical Therapy in Berlin, Maryland.
