The panel will include representatives of the Office of Personnel Management, the Department of Labor, the Department of Health and Human Services, and other Federal agencies. Ample opportunity will be available for EXCEL! members and guests to network with the agency representatives.

Visualizing how assistive technology equipment and modifications can be used in actual work settings is important for everyone. Consumers, VR counselors, placement specialists, and employers need to see examples of assistive technology and accommodations that work. Considering options and looking at ways that technology (low-tech- high-tech) can create new job opportunities are essential for rehabilitation programs, agencies, schools and employers to enhance employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities.
This live satellite broadcast, part of an ongoing series on assistive technology in the workplace, will offer participants the opportunity to interact while viewing actual accommodations and exploring various other applications of assistive technology in the workplace.
This broadcast will focus on office and computer-related jobs. Actual case studies will highlight accommodations for physical, sensory, and cognitive impairments.
Video segments will include perspectives from the person with the disability, the employer, and the rehabilitation counselor.

Anyone interested in enhancing employment outcomes for persons with disabilities. Vocational rehabilitation professionals, people with disabilities, educators involved in transition planning, employers, students in pre-service training programs, assistive technology providers, and program managers.

Facilitator packets containing discussion guides and suggestions for onsite activities will be provided. Alternate format options are available. Sites are encouraged to use the broadcast as a resource to address local needs and enhance AT service delivery capacity.
Where can the broadcast be received?
Arrangements can be made to receive the teleconference broadcast at almost any nearby distance education site, such as a technical school, college, or library. Many programs and agencies are equipped to directly receive satellite broadcasts. If you are interested in sponsoring a site, or have access to a site, please complete the attached registration form and return it with your registration fee to Tech Connections.
This video conference is offered via analog Ku-band satellite transmission. The facilitators' packet will include instructions.

Registration and costs involved:
This is a national teleconference so it is important that you register early to be a teleconference site. The registration form must be submitted to Tech Connections no later than January 7, 2000. Registration cost is a flat fee of $125 per downlink site. Some downlink facilities may charge for the use of their space, however, Tech Connections has no control in the matter. Such fees, if incurred, are separate from the registration fee. Sites have the option of recouping downlink and photocopy expenses for reproduction of resource packets by charging participants a nominal fee.
