CRAB Offers Family Fun

With the help of "Uncle Bob," Jack Strueber, Don Backe, President of CRAB, took groups of Central Special School youngsters out sailing and was able to convey to Maryland Public Television's viewing audience the joy that adaptive sailing can offer kids with disabilities. The laughter and giggles said it all as they put the sloops through their paces on two glorious days last summer.

This year, there is once again no better deal around than CRAB'S $350 FAMILY MEMBERSHIP, which provides unlimited family use of a well-equipped and safe daysailer for an entire sailing season. Throughout the past sailing season Larkin Bauersfeld and her family enjoyed using their CRAB membership the way it was designed. With their own key to the facility, the family only had to place a call to reserve a sloop, and they were independent sailors.

CRAB needs you! There are many ways to get involved as a volunteer or member. Lessons and free "sample sails" are available for adults and children with all types of disabilities, and can include the whole family, and friends. Boats and docks have special equipment to help boaters safely and comfortably experience the excitement of sailing on one of the most beautiful and unique bays in the world - our Chesapeake Bay. Just visiting the area? You're welcome, too! You'll find kindred and intrepid folks with a sense of community and a shared love of making the outdoors accessible to all of us at CRAB. Here are some of the upcoming events this spring and summer to put on your calendar:
