Consumer Assistive Technology Transfer Network (CATN)

Website Announcement http://www.rt66.com/catn.org

The Consumer Assistive Technology Transfer Network (CATN) is looking for assistive technology-related needs/problems, inventions, research and development technologies, and applications regarding individuals with disabilities.

The CATN provides access to assistive technology (AT) resources that involve 56 state/territory AT programs and 16 AT specialized rehabilitation engineering research centers with connections to federal laboratories for technology transfer and commercialization. The CATN Manager identifies specific resources and contacts including information, referral and follow-up assistance.

The National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research (NIDRR), Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services, U.S. Department of Education supports the CATN as an initiative to expand consumer involvement in assistive technology transfer, development and commercialization.

In July 1997, the Federal Laboratory Consortium (FLC) awarded the CATN for non-lab organization efforts in promoting assistive technology-related transfer and NIDRR resources to the federal laboratories.

If you see a connection between a disability related problem/need and an invention, or application solution, contact the CATN Manager for more information.
