Don St. Louis facilitated a group process which was challenging... and rewarding!

Thirty five states met in Chicago twice this Spring to initiate a Technology Assistance planning process as we face the future. As with previous planning meetings, all projects received detailed notes from each session. Excellent progress was made in the evolution of a national plan for continuing the gains made in the Technology Related Assistance Programs

Hold the date! The next meeting will be in Pittsburgh, prior to the official start of the RESNA conference, on Saturday, June 21, 1997. The meeting will be held at the Doubletree Hotel. The meeting will run 9:00- 4:00 approximately, and will be facilitated by Don St. Louis. During the morning the Tech Act Projects will re-group to discuss the progress of activities since the last meeting. NIDRR, RESNA, NAPAS, and UCPA have been invited to send representatives to the afternoon portion of the meeting.

Allen Klaus (NM) flashes a peace sign while Mike Schiffer (NB) and Amy Goldman (PA) shine on.

One of the outcomes of the May meeting was a recommendation to pursue the development of an organization with for Tech Act involvement in policy issues, to include a presence in Washington to facilitate these activities. There will be paid staff. An "interim steering committee" was selected (with geographical and "project age" representation carefully considered) to begin the steps necessary to its development. The Illinois project, which is a 501(c)3 organization, will temporarily act as a fiscal agent, until such time as the organization becomes a legal entity, itself.

It was a long and arduous process...

This national organization will require financial support from its membership, which could include YOU!

New faces and new ideas...
