As we move toward a new session, a poll of Congress finds that most current members have no direct email addresses. This is a call for access!
Computers play an increasing role in the everyday lives of disabled individuals who, like everyone else, wish to have full participation in the legislative and electoral process by voicing, or at least modeming our positions and views. Although every representative in congress, the senate, and the Maryland legislature can be reached by phone, fax, and postal mail, not all have an email address. Email is becoming more and more a standard for communication. I use email for the major part of my correspondence, right down to paying those important bills!
Let's take this opportunity to add one more tool to the arsenal of access methods available to our elected officials. Please senators and congress people, please state legislators, provide us with email access directly to you. If you need help in this regard, you may certainly contact Maryland TAP for advise and technical assistance.
