Short Term Equipment Loan Program

WOLFs, Macaws, IntroTalkers, ScanMates, Switches, IntelliKeys and much more assistive technology is available for loan through Western Maryland TAP's (WM TAP) Short Term Equipment Loan Program. Individuals, agencies and schools may "try before they buy" a wide variety of augmentative communication and computer access equipment. Customized overlays are available, or we'll walk you through making your own at our BoardMaker equipped Macintosh workstation. Good-Bye Heather, Welcome Aboard Shannon

Heather Routson, former WM TAP Administrative Assistant, has moved on to pursue an internship for her forthcoming degree in Social Work. Rapidly coming up to speed to fill her shoes is Shannon Blankenship, new WM TAP Administrative Assistant. Shannon will be coordinating our Short Term Equipment Loan Program, researching an exciting regional project we'll tell you more about later, and riding herd on our Regional Technology Specialist. Annual Awards Luncheon Scheduled

This year's Annual Conference and Awards Luncheon will be held on Friday, April 29, 1994, at Martin's West in Baltimore, MD. Entitled "DIVERSITY IN THE MARKETPLACE: People with Disabilities as Employees and Consumers", this conference is based on the GCEPD assertion that people with disabilities are an economic force which employers and business owners benefit from encompassing in their marketing and hiring strategies. RESNA '94

June 17 - 22, Nashville
RESNA '94: An informative and thought provoking forum for all persons who are interested in rehabilitation and assistive technologies. It is an opportunity to learn, share and network for consumers, occupational and physical therapists, speech-language pathologists, physicians, engineers, orthotists, prosthetists, vocational rehabilitation professionals, educators, vendors and manufacturers.

MD TAP will award up to 5 grants of $600 to organizations to co-sponsor individuals with disabilities who wish to attend RESNA '94. For applications or additional information about RESNA '94, call 1-800 -832-4827. Returned applications must be received by April 15, 1994 in order to allow sufficient time for grantees to make travel arrangements.
