At present the organization is .active priiaarily in Birmingham, Alabama and New Orleans, Louisiana. It was formerly active in liiami, Florida and in Atlanta, Georgia. The persons who are reliably reported to be the policy-making officers of this organization are Esther V« Cooper, Executive Secretary and Louis Burnham, Negro, Organizational Secretary. Generally, the organization is ostensibly interested in the advance- ment of the Negro in the United States, and particularly in the South. More specifically, the organization has interested itself in the problems of veterans and service personnel, economic security, education, community welfare, constitutional liberties and the franchise of voting.
