The celebration of the 25th Anniversary of the regiment on May 10, 1892, was an interesting event. The Veteran Corps paraded the streets and in the evening had a banquet a Hazazer'sHall. Colonel Loney made a speech and recounted the history and mighty deeds of the Fifth, and how, at the riots, the men showed their discipline by charging a mob for blocks, and although they were being assailed and some of the them wounded by flying bricks and coupling pins, and although their muskets were loaded, not one shot was fired. This, Colonel Loney claimed, showed magnificent military discipline.
