Charles and Eleanor's children were 2 i. Catherine1/Kate, bom say 1685. 3 ii. Sarah1, born say 1687. 4 iii. Jane1, born say 1689 5 iv. Elizabeth1, born say 1691. 6 v. Eleanor2, born say 1693. 7 vi. Ann1, born say 1695. 2. Catherine1/ Kate Butler, born say 1685, was bequeathed by William Boarman to his son John Baptiste Boarman in 1709. She was the mother of i. Edward*, a slave who belonged to Francis Hamersley on 13 June 1738 when he was convicted by the Charles County Court of stealing a large quantity of cloth valued at 2,080 pounds of tobacco from the storehouse of Richard Gildart. The court ordered that he sit in the pillory for one hour and receive 39 lashes. (Since this was a capital offense, he could have received the death penalty). In August 1749 he petitioned the Charles County Court for his freedom from William Neale. The court ordered that Richard Edelen, Mary Ruthorn, Mary Jameson, and Thomas Osborn make depositions for the next session of the court in November 1749, but the outcome of the case was not recorded [Court Record 1734-9,474; 1748-50,414]. 8 ii.
