28 Thomas C. Elliott sworn. 1st. I do. Occupation, general huckster. 2d. I am. I have known the Judge for three or four years; have been on the jury, ztnd often about the Court; never saw him drunk or the least disguised with liquor ; never heard him make use of vulgar or profane language; have heard him speak roughly to the lawyers when occasion required it; his conduct on the bench is dignified and courteous. W. A. Glanville sworn. 1st. I do. Occupation, student at law. 2d. I am ; hare been in the Criminal Court nearly every day for some years; never saw the Judge drunk on the bench; never heard him use vulgar language on the bench; have heard him reprove some members of the bar for using such language ; sometimes petulent and sometimes otherwise, why he was so I cannot tell; his conduct as a Judge is dignified, courteous and upright on the bench. George W. Westwood sworn. 1st. I do. Occupation, clerk. 2d. I am ; have been special deputy sheriff under Sheriffs Hays_, Hines and Gaskins for six years; during that time, have observed the conduct of the Judge ; appeared always to conduct himself in a dignified manner on the bench ; I never in any instance seen him depart from it, either by the use of unchaste language or in any manner under the influence of liquor ; for the last two years, being at leisure, I have been in daily attendance in the Criminal Court, and never saw the Judge under the influence of liquor or undignified whilst on the bench.
