Retallick Sr. and Elizabeth Retallick,
Simon Retallick (or Retallack) Jr. began blacksmith work after attending St. John’s College in Annapolis from 1795 until he left without graduating on May 11, 1797. [2] The first record of paid work by Retallick is recorded in William Faris’ October 1798 accounts to “Young Simon” for repairing two tablespoon punches.
When his
father died in 1799, his
mother Elizabeth Retallick
entered a partnership with Richard Goodwin, Simon Retallick Sr.’s
former
business partner, to oversee the family business. [3]
Simon Retallick Jr. took over the shop as blacksmith c.1801, moving his
shop
from his father’s location on the corner of Green and
