Biography:

Born July 8, 1931 in Beltsville, Prince George's County, Maryland. Graduated Lakeland High School, College Park, Maryland; Maryland State College, B.S., 1952; University of Maryland College of West Indies, M.S.; Catholic University of America Law School. Married twice: Eartha King; Florence King. Died in Martinsburg, West Virginia, January 25, 1990.

Worked in family business. Member, House of Delegates, Prince George's County, District 2, 1966-1974; Democrat. First African American elected to Maryland General Assembly from Prince George's County. Founding member, Maryland Legislative Black Caucus; Chair, 1970-1972. Ran for State Senate, Prince George's County, 1974; lost in Democratic primary. Federal administrative law judge, Colorado. Public defender, Martinsburg, West Virginia. Attorney in private practice, Hagerstown, Maryland. Prosecutor, Martinsburg, West Virginia, 1987-1990.
