James Winchester (1772-1806)

Biography:
Born September 13, 1772, in Baltimore, Maryland. Son of William and Mary (Parkes) Winchester. Married to Sarah Owings, March 21, 1793; two children: Samuel and Anne. Episcopalian. Died April 5, 1806, in Shawan, Baltimore County, Maryland.
General Assembly:
House of Delegates, Baltimore City, 1794-96. Federalist.
Other public service:
Appointed to the bench of the U.S. District Court for the District
of Maryland by President John Adams in 1799. Judge Winchester served in
this position until his death in 1806.
