John Morton Jordan (d. 7/23/1771)

Biography:

Born in Virginia.  Son of William and Mary (Mountjoy) Morton Jordan.  Married Dorothy Nesbit; one son, John Nesbit Jordan.  Died July 23, 1771, in Bermuda.

Merchant. Jordan and his family arrived in Maryland in November 1766. Received commission from Lord Baltimore as Agent and Receiver General on November 30, 1769. Jordan left Maryland for Bermuda on June 13, 1771. He died there on July 23, 1771. At the time of his death, Jordan had substantial land holdings in Maryland, Virginia, and the Island of Antigua.
