William Buckland (1734-1774)

Biography:

Born August 14, 1734 in Oxford, England. Son of Mary Dunsdown and Francis Buckland. Married Mary Moore (1732-1810), c. 1759. Three children: Mary; Sarah; Francis. Died between November 17 and December 5, 1774

Prominent architect in colonial Maryland and Virginia. Designer of houses including the Chase-Lloyd House, James Brice House, and Hammond-Harwood House in Annapolis, and Gunston Hall, the home of George Mason.
