Biography:
Dr. Henry M. Brooks was born in Tuskegee, Alabama and educated at the elementary and high school of Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, Florida. He received his Bachelor of Science and Masters of Education degrees from Tuskegee University. He received his Doctorate of Philosophy degree from The Ohio State University in 1975.
He began his professional Extension career in 1967 with Auburn University, as a County Extension Agent. After graduate school he was recruited to Kentucky State University as a State Specialist and Assistant Administrator. He came to the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) in 1980 as the Extension Administrator and Associate Director of the Maryland Cooperative Extension Service.
Dr. Brooks holds membership in several professional and social organizations. He has served as the Faculty Athletics Representative for the University of Maryland Eastern Shore since 1989. He has served on various NCAA, MEAC and university related athletic committees. He is on the National 4-H Congress Board of Directors, Journal of Extension Board of Directors, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, and Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity. He is a member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church. On February 28, 2008, Dr. Brooks received the Maryland Living History Award from Governor Martin O'Malley, Lt. Governor Anthony Brown, and the Legislative Black Caucus of Maryland.
He is married to the former Carolyn Branch and they have four children, Charles, Marcellus, Alexis and Toni.
