Biography:

Born in Mobile, Alabama.  Attended parochial schools; Mount St. Agnes College, B.A., 1962; University of Notre Dame, M.S., 1968.

Executive Chair, Mercy Health Services Board of Trustees, 1999-present. President and CEO, Mercy Medical Center, 1992-99. President, Sister of Mercy of the Union. Provincial Administrator, Sisters of Mercy, Province of Baltimore.

Sr. Helen has sat on the boards of St. Joseph Health System in Atlanta, Geogia; Downtown Management District Authority of Baltimore City; The Greater Baltimore Comittee; United Way of Central Maryland; The Maryland Hospital Association; The Loyola College in Maryland; The St. Mary's Seminary, Baltimore; The Archdiocesan Board of Financial Administration, Baltimore. She was selected by The Daily Record as on of Maryland's Top 100 Women in 1997, 1999, and 2001. Inducted into the Circle of Excellence. Other awards and honors include: Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice honor from Pope John Paul II; Woman of the Year, Towsontowne Professional Business Woman's Association; Top 50 Women in Baltimore magazine's Most Powerful Women Issue; Maryland Public Television's Women of Triumph; Baltimore City Commission of Women Hall of Fame; Sarah's Circle Award, Women's Institute, College of Notre Dame of Maryland; Maryland Business Hall of Fame, 2007; named an Influential Marylander by The Daily Record, 2007.
