Robert A. Ravenscroft

Biography:

Born on April 30, 1866, in Allegany County, Maryland. Son of Martha McGowen and R. D. Ravenscroft. Attended local public schools; Shenandoah Normal College, graduated 1884; Medical College of Louisville, 1887-1888; College of Physicians and Surgeons, Baltimore, 1888-1889; Medical College of Louisville, 1893. Married Jennie Custer (1866-1931), December 18, 1889. Two children: Della May (b. 1892) and Randall M. (b. 1897).

Politician, physician, and government worker. Taught school, 1884-1886. Began medical practice in Accident, Maryland, 1889. Served in State Senate, 1894, 1896, 1898, 1900, 1901, 1902; Republican. United States Surveyor of Customs, Port of Baltimore, 1906-1915.
