Biography:

Born in Rochester, New York, 1951.  B.A. with distinction, University of Virginia, 1974.  M.D., Medical College of Virginia, 1978.  Residency, Upstate Medical College, Syracuse, New York.

Trauma and critical care fellowship.  Department of Surgery, SUNY Brooklyn, 1984.  Director of Trauma, Surgical Intensive Care Unit, Kings County Hospital; later founder, director, Department of Emergency Medicine.  Physician-in-Chief,  R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center, 1997.  Named Francis X. Kelly Professor in Trauma Surgery, 2003.  Editor, Trauma Quarterly.  Editorial Board, The Journal of Trauma.  Recipient, Speaker's Medallion, 2006.
