Biography:

Born Baltimore, Maryland, November 23, 1862.  Father Edward Duffy (1831-1892), Judge of Baltimore City Supreme Bench, 1882-1892.  Attended local public schools, as well as Baltimore City College, and Johns Hopkins University.   Read law with prominent attorney A. Leo Knott, and attended University of Maryland Law School.  Admitted to the Bar November 5, 1884.  Married, Eleanor K. George.  Died Baltimore Maryland, November 26, 1948.

Began legal career with A. Leo Knott.  Later moved to private practice with brother Edward J. Duffy, Jr.  Elected State's Attorney as Republican, 1895; defeated for reelection, 1899.  Returned to practice with brother.  Elected to the Supreme Bench of Baltimore City, 1909.  Reappointed at the conclusion of his term, but defeated two years later in reelection bid by childhood friend Albert S. J. Owens, 1926.  Engaged in private practice after defeat.  Also served as occasional special master for the courts.  Served as assistant State's Attorney, 1931.  Trustee, Enoch Pratt Free Library, 1895-1947.
