Biography:

Born Baltimore City, Maryland, July 14, 1907. Brother Maurice, House of Delegates 1951-1966. Attended Baltimore City public schools, as well as Army and Navy Prep School. Graduated University of Maryland Law School, 1929. Admitted to the Bar, December 7, 1929. Married, Dora Green (d. 1972), 1936. Remarried, Sylvia Jacobson (d. 1998), 1976. Two children, Benjamin Cardin, U.S. House of Representatives, Howard L. Cardin. Grandfather of Jon S. Cardin, House of Delegates, District 11. Died, Baltimore, July 12, 2005.

Began private practice in partnership with brother Jacob in firm of Cardin & Cardin. Served in House of Delegates as Democrat from Baltimore City's Second District, 1935-1939. Chief Police Magistrate, 1955-1957. Chief Judge of Traffic Court, 1957-1958. Chair, State Workmen's Compensation Commission. Appointed to Supreme Bench of Baltimore City, 1961. Retired from bench, 1977. Returned as judge to Baltimore City Circuit Court, 1984-1994. Active in civic, religious, and charitable activities.
