Biography:

Born, Cecil County, February 13, 1857. Son of John Stump and Mary Mitchell. Brother Judge Frederick Stump of Second Judicial Circuit. Graduated St. John's College, 1878. Admitted to bar 1881. Died February 10, 1934, in Baltimore City.

Upon graduation, taught school in Port Deposit, read law with his brother. Practiced in Baltimore City. Appointed to Supreme Bench of Baltimore City, 1910. Elected in 1911, reelected 1926. By resolution passed by General Assembly, allowed to continue in office beyond constituional age limit of seventy years old, 1927.  Died in office after brief, sudden illness.
