Biography:

Born December 25, 1856, in Baltimore City. Son of William Elliot, a professor at St. John's College and Baltimore City College, and Rose Anna Bunting Elliot. Graduated fifth in his class from Princeton University, 1876. Attended the University of Maryland Law School, 1876-1878, and graduated at the head of his class. Also studied at the firm of Hinkley & Morris at that time. Admitted to the bar in 1878. Married, had one daughter. Died December 5, 1915, in Baltimore City after a brief illness.

In his practice, he established himself as "one of the leading members of the younger Bar." Appointed City Solicitor by Mayor Alcaeus Hooper, 1896-98. Served a leading role on the commission to that wrote Baltimore's new city charter, 1897-1898. Elected to the Supreme Bench of Baltimore City, 1906. Served until his death in 1915. His peers noted his keen intellect and strong passion for, and sense of, justice.
