Biography:

Born November 17, 1851, in Baltimore, Maryland.  Son of Dr. Alpheus P. Sharp.  Attended Calvert Hall School; Lamb's School; Loyola College.  Received LL.B., Yale University Law School, 1875; Honorary M.A., Yale University, 1889.  Admitted to the bar, November 26, 1875.  Died July 7, 1911, in Baltimore, Maryland.

Worked as a clerk in the Baltimore & Ohio ticket office for about a year before attending law school.  Practiced in Baltimore City, 1875-1897.  Unsuccessful candidate for Attorney General of Maryland a Republican, 1891.  Elected to the Supreme Bench, November 2, 1897.  Lecturer, Yale University Law School, 1889-1900; Georgetown University, 1901-1902.  As a judge, emphasized mediation.  Served on the bench until his death.  

Chair, Committee on Legal Education, American and Maryland State Bar Associations.  Delegate, Universal Congress of Lawyers and Jurists, 1904.  Member, American Historical Association; American Political Science Association; Society of Colonel Wars; Metropolitan Club of Washington; University Club of New York.  Religion: Friend.
