Biography:
<> Born in Baltimore, Maryland, September 25, 1866. Son of >Dr. A. E. Smith (d. 1883). Attended Baltimore City College. Graduated, University of Maryland Law School, 1899. Admitted to the Bar, June 3, 1889. Married, Ella W. Griffith, 18978; two children, Charles F. Stein, Jr. and Clara Stein. Died, Baltimore, Maryland, May 5, 1939.Studied law with Jesse N. Bowen. Worked in the lumber and
building industries, 1889-1901. Practiced as part of firm
Henninghausen & Smith, 1901-1939, excluding years served as Judge;
practice focused on real estate. Appointed to Supreme Bench of
Baltimore City, October 15, 1921, by Governor Albert C. Ritchie.
Retired as required by constitution, age 70, September 24, 1936.
