Biography:
Born in Baltimore, Maryland, January 15, 1887. Son of Dr.
B.
Holly Smith (d. 1918) and Frances Gist Hopkins Smith. Attended
the Tome School. Received B.A., Johns Hopkins University,
1906;
LL.B., University of Maryland Law School, 1908. Admitted to the
bar,
December 24, 1908. Married, Spalding Donovan Smith; three
children, W. Conwell Smith, Jr., Mrs. Van Fossen Schwab, and Mrs. Innis
C. Haines. Died in Baltimore, Maryland, June 3, 1954.
Private practice with Mengel, Barton & Smith, 1908-1913.
