William H. Howard (1874-1929)

Biography:

William Henry Howard was born February 10, 1874, in Annapolis, Maryland to James E. Howard (born c. 1854), a waiter, and Eliza Alsop Howard (born c. 1856), a nurse. As a child William and his parents lived in the home of his grandmother, Mary Howard, on Market Street in Annapolis. William started his career as a school teacher in Annapolis. Howard was admitted to the Maryland bar, January 29, 1901.  He married Amanda Isabelle Stewart (born c. 1882) on June 3, 1903, in Baltimore.  The Howard's had one child, Evelyn Alsop Howard (born c. 1905).  They resided at 59 Northwest Street, Annapolis, originally the home of Howards' parents, from at least 1910 to 1927.  William Howard died August 21, 1929, at Crownsville State Hospital, Anne Arundel County, Maryland.  He is buried in Brewer Hill Cemetery, Annapolis, Maryland.
