Richard Harwood of Thomas (1775-1835)

Biography:

Born March 7, 1775.  Son of Thomas Harwood.  Attended the grammar school of St. John's College, Annapolis, Maryland, 1789-91; the French School, 1791-92; St. John's College, 1792-94, B.A., 1794.  Married Sally Callahan (c. 1783-1833), March 29, 1803.  Children:  Sarah, William (b. 1809), Elizabeth.  Died April 4, 1835.

Annapolis city councilman, 1805, 1810 (resigned).  Annapolis city commissioner, 1806.  Mayor of Annapolis, 1825-28.  Adjutant General of Maryland, 1817-35.  Owned a "mansion house" in Annapolis as well as a farm called "Summer Hill" on Beard's Creek, and a plantation called "Mary Mount."
