Robert Couden

Biography:

Commissioner for Emitting Bills of Credit, 1761-66.  Clerk, Committee on examining the account of Iron Chest No. 1, 1763.  Assistant Intendant of the Revenue and all public Monies, 1782.  Auditor General, 1783.  Mayor of Annapolis, 1785-86, 1790-91.  Justice of the Peace, Anne Arundel County, 1788.  Justice of the Orphan's Court, Anne Arundel County, 1788.  Annapolis alderman, 1791-92.  Commissioner of the Loan Office, 1767.  Justice, Admiralty Court, 1767.  Tax commissioner, 1790.

His daugther, Mary Couden, was married to John Hoskins Stone. Robert Couden was dead by July 1792, per an ad placed in the Maryland Gazette by Stone, his executor.
