Biography:

Born James Lloyd Young, August 20, 1901, in Cumberland, Maryland. Son of James A. Young and Daisy White. Attended Allegany County public schools. Methodist. Married (1) unknown, (2) Mary Constance Macaluso, 1932. One daughter, Virginia Lee Cleary. Died November 26, 1979, in Annapolis, Maryland. Buried, Rose Hill Cemetery, Cumberland, Maryland.

James Lloyd Young spent most of his life in the clerk's office. In 1927, while his father, James A. Young, was Clerk of the Court of Appeals, J. Lloyd was appointed a deputy junior clerk. He became chief deputy in 1943, and in 1957, he was appointed Clerk by the judges of the court. J. Lloyd Young was sworn in July 1, 1957, by Governor Theodore McKeldin. Young retired August 20, 1971, at the age of 70.

J. Lloyd Young's civic activities included membership in the Easport Democratic Club, Calvary United Methodist Church, and the Annapolis Yacht Club. He was a past exalted ruler of the Elks, and member of the Masons and the Tall Cedars of Lebanon.
