William Browning (1804-1879)

Biography:

Born November 14, 1804.  Son of Meshach Browning and Mary McMullen Browning.  Married first wife Elizabeth Ann Drane (1804-1842); second wife Sarah Ann DeWitt (1819-1890); children included Richard L. (or T.), member of the Maryland House of Delegates, Garrett County, 1876-; and member of the Maryland Senate, Garrett County, 1886-c. 1890.  Resided at the Browning homestead near the Youghiogheny River (possibly Sang Run or Browning Mill), Garrett County.  Died June 27, 1879.  Buried at Hoyes Catholic cemetery, Garrett County.

County commissioner, Garrett County.  Justice of the peace.  Candidate for the Maryland legislature.
