Born January 7, 1929, in Baltimore, Maryland. Attended College of Notre Dame of Maryland, B.A. (English), 1962; Villanova University, M.S. (English), 1964; Rutgers University, Ph.D. (English), 1970.

Professor of English, College of Notre Dame of Maryland, 1999-. Fulbright Professor of English, Fudan University, Shanghai, China, 1998-1999. Visiting Professor, University of Maryland Baltimore County, 1997-1998. Administrator for Special Education, Baltimore City Public Schools, 1995-1997. Founder and Executive Director, Caroline Center, 1994-1997. Visiting Professor, Australian Catholic University, 1993-1994. Fulbright Professor of English, University of Madras, India, 1992-1993. President and Professor of English, College of Notre Dame of Maryland, 1971-1992. Board Member, Institute of Notre Dame High School, 1999-; Oak Crest National Board (Erickson Continuing Care Retirement Centers), 1999-.; Mercy Medical Center, 1995-. Maryland Top 100 Women, The Daily Record, 2003. Lifetime Achievement Award, The Caroline Center, 2002. Dedication of the Sister Kathleen Feeley International Center, 2001.
