Biography:

Born Mary Rogers Ward, February 10, 1919, in Birmingham, Alabama.  Daughter of Rogers Ward and Eartha Nowden.  Attended Coppin State College, B.S., 1942; graduate study at several colleges and universities.  Married 1.) Ulysses J. Carter, 2.) Elias Raymond Smith, and 3.) Eugene Thomas Grove, Jr.; one son: Ricardo Rogers Carter. Died April 25, 2007, in Towson, Maryland.

Official Griot of Baltimore, 1983-2007.
