Biography:
Born Baltimore, Maryland,
February 8, 1874. Son of Moses and Isabella
Frank. B.A., Johns Hopkins University, 1894, graduated with
honors, Phi Beta Kappa. Received LL.B., University of Maryland
Law School, 1896, with honors. Admitted to the Bar, June 2,
1896. Married, Rena Ambach, 1896; three children, Eli Frank, Jr.,
Mrs. Bertram S. Friedman, and Mrs. Sydney M. Cone, Jr. Died,
Baltimore, July 25, 1958.
<>Legal expertise in areas of property and procedure, author of leading
text on title. Briefly a member of Baltimore City School
Board. President, Bar Association of Baltimore City,
1920-1921. Appointed to the Supreme Bench of Baltimore City,
1922. Taught as University of Maryland Law School for many
years, until 1944. President, Maryland State Bar Association,
1943-1944. Retired from the Bench, 1944, returned to private
practice with Frank, Bernstein, Conaway & Goldman. Board of
Trustees, Johns Hopkins, 1926-1951. Co-founder, Park School,
1912; Hebrew (later Sinai) Hospital; Association of Jewish Charities.
