Biography:

Born December 20, 1927 in Kingsville, Baltimore County, Maryland;  Attended public schools of Baltimore County; University of Maryland, B.S., 1951; University of Maryland School of Law, LL.B., 1953.  Married Opal L. Whiteford.  Died April 1980.

Served in U.S. Martime Service, 1945-48; U.S. Army, 1953-56, achieved rank of captain.  Law partner, Cameron, Close, Reed & Blair, Bel Air, Maryland.  Secretary-treasurer of the Harford County Metropolitan Commission.  Member, Maryland House of Delegates, 1962-67.  Maryland secretary of state, 1967-69.  Gubernatorial candidate, 1970.
