Biography:

Born at Deer Park, Garrett County, Maryland, December 14, 1886.  Son of Wilbur C. and Olive Bell Jones.  Attended the public schools of Garrett County; West Virginia Wesleyan College, Buckhannon, West Virginia; Ohio Wesleyan University, Delaware, Ohio, A.B., 1910.  University of Maryland School of Law, LL.B., 1913.  Admitted to the Maryland bar, 1913.  Married; four children.  Died November 1975 in Clermont, Florida.

Began the private practice of law, Garrett County, 1913.  State's attorney for Garrett County, 1916-20.  Partnership formed with Walter W. Dawson (Jones and Dawson), 1930.  Maryland secretary of state, 1936-39.  President, Garrett County Bar Association.  Trustee, St. Paul's Methodist Episcopal Church, Oakland.  Trustee, West Virginia Wesleyan College.  Member, American Bar Association.  Director, First National Bank of Oakland.  Director, First State Bank of Grantsville.  Chair, Maryland Commission on Intergovernmental Cooperation.  Member, Executive Committee, National Association of Secretaries of State, 1937, 1938.
