George B. Milligan (d. 1889)

Biography:

Son of John Jones Milligan who bequethed him six hundred acres of land in New Castle County, Delaware.  Married; three children:  Elise, Sophia Carroll, and John Jones Milligan of Baltimore.  Resided in Baltimore City, Maryland and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  Died February 24, 1889 in Philadelphia.  Buried in Wilmington, Delaware.

Private law practice, 56 St. Paul Street, Baltimore City.  Appointed secretary of state by Governor William T. Hamilton on May 10, 1884 after R. C. Hollyday resigned from the position for health reasons.  Continued to serve as secretary of state under Governor Robert M. McLane, 1884-86.
