John N. Watkins (1791-1871)

Biography:

Born 1791.  Attended St. John's College, Annapolis, Maryland, graduated 1811.  Unmarried.  Resided with his mother in Annapolis, Maryland.  Died January 1, 1871.

Member, House of Delegates, Annapolis, 1827-28.  Secretary of the state senate.  Adjutant general, 1835-56.  Maryland secretary of state, 1844, 1849-51.  Attended Maryland Constitutional Convention of 1850 as secretary of state.  Collaborated with William Kilty, Jr. to publish a six-volume compilation of laws passed from 1799 to 1818.  Member of the board of visitors and governors, St. John's College, Annapolis.
