Thomas Wright III (1800-1863)

Biography:

Born in 1800. Son of Solomon Wright (d. 1832). Two brothers, Dr. Robert (d. 1884) and Gustavus. Studied law; admitted to the Queen Anne's County bar. Married Margaret Wright (b. 1810), January 1, 1828; six children: Sarah (b. 1833), Joanna (b. 1837), Philemon Chew (1839-1853), Anna (b. 1843), Paleria (b. 1845), and Thomas (b. 1847). Died on May 23, 1863.

Lawyer and farmer. Resided in Centreville, Queen Anne's County. Member, House of Delegates, Queen Anne's County, 1824-1825, 1828-1834; Speaker of the House, 1833. Unsuccessful candidate for Maryland Senate, 1826. Centreville town commissioner, 1833-1834. Maryland Secretary of State, 1841-1842. Chief judge, Queen Anne's County Orphan's Court, 1848-1863.
