Born in Atlanta, Georgia, January 26, 1954.  Attended Sidwell Friends School, Washington, D.C.; American University; University of Maryland.

General Assembly:
House of Delegates, Legislative Districts 24 & 25 (D), Prince George's County, 1979-91.  Member, Constitutional and Administrative Law Committee; Joint Committee on Federal Relations.

Private Career and Other Public Service:
Member, NAACP; Ploughmen and Fishermen; 24th Democratic Alliance; SCLC; National Eagle Scout Association; Prince George's County Jaycees.  Board of directors, Young Democrats.  Member, vice-chair, chair, acting mayor, Glenarden Town Council.  Democratic Precinct Chair, Glenarden Housing Authority.   Member, Glenarden Land Purchasing Agency; Glenarden Recreation Council; Metropolitan Council of Governments.  Selected Outstanding Young Man in America, 1978-81.  Selected Outstanding Legislator, Maryland Municipal League, 1982; Future Leader of Washington, 1982; Citizen of the Year, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, 1983; Man of the Year, Seat Pleasant Business and Professional Women, 1986.
