Biography:

Born in Sprott, Alabama, November 27, 1930.  Attended Alabama public schools; University of Maryland; University of Alabama, A.B. (political science), 1957; The American University, M.A., 1967.  Married; five children. Died December 8, 2015, in Maplesville, Alabama. Buried at Cox Chapel United Methodist Cemetery, Maplesville, Alabama.

General Assembly:
House of Delegates, Howard County, 1970-78.  Chair, Appropriations Subcommittee on Public Safety and Transportation, 1970-74.  Chair, Appropriations Subcommittee on State Services, 1975-78.

Private Career and Other Public Service:
Manager of data processing and computing business.  Served in U.S. Army.  Member, Howard County Charter Board, 1966-68.  Member, Howard County Council, 1968-70.  Chair, National Legislative Conference Committee on Legislative Information Needs, 1974.  County Executive, Howard County, 1979-86.  Member, State Development Council Task Force, 1983-86; Criminal Justice Information Advisory Board, 1983-85; Governor's Volunteer Council, 1985-86; chair, Regional Planning Council, 1985-86.  Consultant in public administration and economic development, primarily in central and eastern Europe.  Member, American Political Science Association; National Municipal League; Academy of Political and Social Sciences; American Association for the Advancement of Science; Optimist International.
