Biography:

Born Sterling Ruffin Maddox, Jr. on May 23, 1941 in Bethesda, Maryland. Son of Sterling Ruffin "Rum" Maddox and Jane (Bogley) Maddox; two brothers. Attended Landon School, Bethesda, Maryland (graduated 1959); Lehigh University; George Washington University, B.S. Married Marcia McCardle, 1963; Colleen Cayton. Two children. Died on March 24, 2020, in Arlington, Virginia.

General Assembly:
House of Delegates, Montgomery County, First District 1971-74; Democrat.

Private Career and Other Public Service:
Real estate agent and developer, as well as civil engineer and land surveyor. Member, Tau Beta Pi Association. Member, Board of Trustees, Washington Chapter, National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
